Kids and Teens

Various activities, or inactivity, can lead to the need for chiropractic care as your child grows.

Screen time/posture. The lifestyle of kids and teens can lead to a need for chiropractic care. As your child gets older, he or she may participate in greater screen time on computers, phones and tablets. Without even thinking about it, they may be mirroring the habits of their parents. Kids and teens may also slump in a chair or sofa – a habit that can lead to bad posture and health issues that may develop later in life. Bad posture also threatens our appearance. Children and teens who exhibit good posture enjoy a healthier outlook and better self-image. Treating posture issues early can stop a problem from developing.

Heavy backpacks, emotional stress, physical activity. In all probability, as your child attends school, he or she is going to be carrying a backpack – which may be overloaded and heavy! If you’re lucky, your child is also active – running with friends on the playground or participating in organized sports. And while we hate to admit it sometimes, children can encounter stressful situations. Whether the need for chiropractic care stems from falls, emotional stress or gear that’s too heavy, regular checks by a chiropractor can sometimes prevent further problems down the road. Consider periodic checks to make sure your child grows up to be the best young adult possible. We hope you call Family Chiropractic Center, and let Dr. Staley, who LOVES kids, see what he can do.
