Stress and Posture

The vast majority of Americans earn their living while sitting in front of a computer screen for 8 or more hours a day. After work, they go home and, in all likelihood, use the computer again in the evening, though it may be for recreational purposes. When you think about it, we use electronics all the time which results in posture habits that make us look bad and feel older. Not only does this bad posture lead to degeneration of joints, but it makes us look lazy. Our appearance is compromised. We can help fix that.

Computer work and poor posture. While we are at the computer, we’re sitting – which can lead to poor posture. Poor posture creates increased degeneration of the joints and discs of the neck. (Please refer to our service section on neck pain).

When posture is poor, some muscles will become shortened while others will become overly stretched. These changes can lead to headaches, neck pain, arm pain and numbness and tingling in the hands and fingers. In severe cases, patients can experience weakness. If you add work stress, strain to the system because of poor diet, and lack of any type of stress relief one might get from exercise, the result could lead to a very unhealthy situation.
